Kind of a lazy week. I got Cave Story and was totally obsessed with beating the final boss. Now I've gotta focus on doing these Grim Bros. Illustrations for my AP portfolio.
And I'm still waiting to hear from Calarts! When will the waiting end!?!

Not happy with how this illustration came out at all. I need to get better at finishing things and backgrounds. Well I need to get better at everything but those two are high priority.

I need to find a simpler way to update this thing. Also I need to practice harder. forever.

Timechart!

This week I decided to chart how I spent my time. The results were telling. They tell me I HAVE TO WORK HARDER. I got really lazy at the end of this week. I'm not totally sure I want to keep doign this, but I also want to see if I can beat this week's record!

I've decided this blog will be updated weekly on or around Thursday night with the best work I've done all week. If you want to see more for some reason chck out my sketchbook threads on crimsondaggers.com or conceptart.org where my username is "Vertical"

Lol that wasn't weekly! I'll wait until I'm actually making regular posts until I start linking this site...

such a silly s...title

That's enough alliteration for now.
Hello, my name is Sam Szymanski, and I'm trying to become a professional artist (I want to be an animator, specifically). I'm planning on posting the best things I've done during the week here, most likely on Saturday. If you care to see a more exhaustive slew of work check my conceptart.org sketchbook here. For the most part I think I'll be uploading longer studies, some illustration work, and cartoons. later in the year I'll start doing animations.
To give a bit of background knowledge, I'm 18 years old and currently a senior in high school. I've applied to Calarts' Character Animation program and I'll hear back from them in march-April, and I'm working on my application to Sheridan college's animation program. I'm starting to participate more in the art group Crimson Daggers and attempting daily to improve my skills.

Just a photo study for now
